Here, at Blue IoT, we have developed a highly cyber-secure, non-IP-based radio monitoring solution that unifies a wide range of sensors and data types into one single, intuitive pane of glass. Our approach, supported by both our platform and team, enables measurable improvements in energy efficiency, environmental quality, and occupant wellbeing.  

These capabilities are delivered through two distinct avenues: our services offering and our software offering. Our software, Encompass Blue, offers complete monitoring and visualization across indoor air quality, water, occupancy, gas, electricity and many other important data streams. It provides real-time insights and automated alerts, helping clients to respond quickly and effectively to changes within their environments. Our services pathway builds on this by assisting clients with data analysis, identifying remediation opportunities, and providing ongoing operational support.

To strengthen and scale our offerings, we participate in the AWS Think Big for Small Business program. This program enables us to deliver resilient, cost-efficient, and rapidly deployable solutions on AWS, empowering clients to modernize their environments simply and effectively.

Used to securely ingest data from LoRaWAN devices using MQTT messaging, enabling reliable, low-power sensor communications.

AWS Lambda

Provides serverless computing for processing incoming data, running event-driven functions, and supported backend workflows without direct management.

Amazon CloudWatch

Used for visualizing logs and tracking performance across AWS infrastructure and services.

Amazon API Gateway

Acts as the interface that connects our frontend and backend, securely managing API requests and routing data between system components.

DynamoDB

Our in-memory database for storing most recent operational data including user profiles, device states, alert configurations, and more.

Amazon Timestream

Stores historical time-series data such as device and alert histories

Provides secure user authentication and authorization across the platform.

Used for hosting and managing our frontend applications.

Use Cases

Education

We support schools with campus-wide indoor air quality monitoring, energy optimization across multiple buildings, water leak detection, and student safety technologies such as vape detection. We also provide remediation services to address issues we find.

Local Government

We assist local councils with real-time water flow monitoring, early leak detection, and resource management across aquatic centers and community facilities.

Commercial Buildings

We provide advanced fire-risk and cladding monitoring solutions for large commercial and residential buildings with combustible cladding, enabling rapid detection of façade-related fire hazards.

Case Study

In 2022, Blue IoT partnered with Somerset College to modernize its built environment across the campus. Initial indoor air quality assessments revealed several classrooms experiencing CO2 peaks of up to 3,000 parts per million (ppm), which is significantly higher than the recommended thresholds for concentration, cognitive performance, and overall wellbeing.  

Using Encompass Blue’s advanced monitoring capabilities, paired with our secure LoRaWAN-based sensor network, the school now monitors almost 100 classrooms for indoor air quality. The latest platform developments paired with targeted remediations services have significantly reduced CO2 levels; peak readings have been brought down to below 1,000 ppm. This enhanced air quality has created a much healthier learning environment for both students and staff.  

Beyond indoor air quality, the school also uses Encompass Blue for vape detection in restrooms and changerooms. Automated alerts sent to relevant staff have enabled quicker responses and resulted in measurable reductions in vaping incidents on campus.  

Additionally, Somerset monitors water usage across multiple buildings on campus, receiving early leak detection that helps prevent unnecessary water waste. By notifying contractors immediately after anomalies appear, the school has saved hundreds of thousands of liters of water over time.
