Research Partners are institutions and research organizations that help us push the boundaries of innovation and evidence-based development. These partners conduct applied research, test new technologies, and contribute to thought leadership in our industry. Their insights and academic rigor help shape smarter, healthier, and more sustainable environments.

The ARC Training Centre for Advanced Building System against Airborne Infection Transmission (THRIVE) was established in 2023 and is officially hosted by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The aim of the center is to design and develop the next generation of building systems whose elements work together to reduce indoor airborne infection transmission, improve indoor air quality (IAQ), and maintain comfort and energy efficiency.
THRIVE was created in response to a major gap that was highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic: prior to 2020, most ventilation systems were not designed to protect the public from infectious diseases. The THRIVE Centre aims to shift this paradigm by developing integrated building technologies that actively manage IAQ and directly combat infection transmission.
To achieve this aim, THRIVE brings together academic experts, industry partners, engineers, architects, and policymakers together within a single coordinate framework. THRIVE’s work therefore spans across several core areas.
With leadership from Distinguished Professor Lidia Morawska and a interdisciplinary network of partners, THRIVE combines cutting edge research, technological innovation, and industry engagement to advance the development of clean, healthy and high-performing indoor environments.
